The Injured Jockeys Fund is thrilled to be able to share with you a new initiative, based around the Randox Health Aintree Grand National 2021 (10th April) which we hope many of you will be able to participate in, to have fun and hopefully raise some funds along the way.

The IJF has its heritage steeped in Grand National history, being founded in 1964 due to the devastating accidents of Tim Brookshaw and Paddy Farrell. So, it seems wholly appropriate that during these difficult times, we once again use the race as a call to action for your support.

We would like to invite you, your family and friends to take part in some way, and we have aimed to make it as fun, and accessible to all, as possible.

We are extremely grateful to Paddy Power who have made a very generous donation to the injured Jockeys Fund to help us continue to provide the help and support needed for jockeys and their families.

One of these packs contains a GOLDEN TICKET! The winner will receive two VIP 2022 Grand National tickets.

Paddy Power have also kindly donated a free £5 bet to those purchasing the IJF Grand National Weekend Pack. These can be used in their retail shops once they reopen.

The ‘Injured Jockeys Fund Grand National Weekend’ has four main ways to be involved, (see below) or you may wish simply to take part in your own way.

Feel free to share pics of your events with us on social media, Tag us @IJF_Official and use the hashtag #IJFGrandNationalWeekend on Twitter.

1. Complete the Grand National distance of 4 miles 2.5 furlongs!

Saddle Up! Why not cover the distance of the Grand National and raise funds for the IJF? You can cover the distance any way you choose, perhaps by walking, running, cycling, swimming, riding a horse, wheelchair push or hand bike.

Put on your trainers and head out for a run or walk? Take the dog, take friends and family, socially distanced where required of course!

You may want to ask to be sponsored by family and friends on your challenge, or simply make a small donation yourself. There is no obligation whatsoever and you can join in for free. Any amount raised, no matter how small, will be gratefully received and put to good use.

2. Organise an IJF Grand National Weekend Event

Why not organise an event at home or at work (if guidelines permit) or a virtual event with friends or family.

This could be a ‘Cake Bake’ to raise funds at home or workplace. You may wish to take advantage of our ‘Grand National Weekend Pack’ to help make this more fun and give it an ‘IJF feel’. This pack also contains some fun ideas and recipes to compliment the ‘Red Rum Tea Loaf’ (see below), such as ‘Papillon Buns’, Eton Esha-Ness’ and a ‘Hedge Shrinker’ cocktail to enjoy.

You may choose to have a quiz or card event, either in person or on ‘Zoom’ or similar. Whatever you decide it can be fun and again could raise a few donations for the IJF.

4. Paddy Power & IJF Grand National Sweepstake Kit

The Paddy Power & Injured Jockeys Fund Sweepstake Kit will be freely available to download here, at no cost once the final declarations have been made prior to the Grand National.

This gives you the chance to get involved and pick a horse along with family, friends or co-workers, setting the amount per runner that you choose and allocating prizes to the first 3 or 4 home.

For example if there are 40 runners and you allotted £2 per horse, with your £80 pot you could choose to allocate £40 as winnings split as you choose and donate £40 to the IJF. Of course, there is no obligation to donate anything,  just enjoy your day!
