On 30th August, the Joe Mercer Memorial Golf Day took place at Newbury and Crookham Golf Club. The day was a fantastic success raising funds for the Injured Jockeys Fund. This is the third year of the running of this event which has generated over £8,000 to date.

Injured Jockeys Fund Vice Patron, John Francome MBE, kindly offered to run the raffle and auction with great prizes up for grabs, such as Stable Tours and Golf Days.

The winning team (pictured right) was made up of Steve Keele, Trevor Rogers, Edwin Klinkenberg and Maurice Carvill with 95pts. Finishing closely behind in second was Simon McNeil, Peter Hobbs, Tom Grantham and Martin Bosley and the third placed team, Paul Barton, Simon Barrie, Mike Alderson and Sam Angell.

The longest drive (pictured left) was won by Matthew McKay, and the nearest the pin winner (pictured right) is Maurice Carvill.

A huge thanks must go to Sarah Mercer and the whole team involved in putting on a brilliant day and being so generous in choosing the Injured Jockeys Fund as the benefiting charity – we are so grateful!
