William Norris KC will be stepping down as Chair of the Injured Jockeys Fund at the end of December 2025 with Guy Henderson, former CEO of Ascot and a former IJF Trustee succeeding him:
William says:
“I’ve had the honour of being involved with the Injured Jockeys Fund for almost 20 years, first as a trustee and then taking over as Chairman from Brough Scott in 2019. During that time, I’ve not only witnessed the incredible work the charity does in so many areas across the racing industry, but it’s also been my privilege to help steer the charity through some of its major developments. The strong position it holds today serves as a beacon for rehabilitation and support across racing and wider sport in general.”
Guy Henderson says:
“I am delighted to re-join and chair the trustee board of the Injured Jockeys Fund. Every day, jockeys display great courage and skill under pressure and at real risk, providing excitement and entertainment for millions of people every year. I look forward to working again with the IJF’s outstanding team and experienced board of trustees to continue to advance how we support the welfare of our beneficiaries.”
Lisa Hancock, CEO of the IJF says:
“We welcome Guy back to the Charity and very much look forward to working with him. We are very fortunate to have a fantastic board of trustees all of whom give up their time so willingly. The position of Chair is particularly important as it helps to set the tone and overall direction of our work. We have benefitted so much from the wisdom and energy of William, and Brough before him and I am sure that Guy with his extensive racing and charity experience, as well as his personal passion for the sport, will continue their sound guidance.”
Guy Henderson was a lawyer with an international law firm from1980 to 2012. He was a Trustee and Chairman of the Horse Trust from 2006 to 2012. He served as CEO of Ascot Racecourse from 2015 to 2022 and is currently a non-executive director of Taunton Racecourse.
