Members of the IJF Supporters Club enjoyed a fascinating behind-the-scenes visit to the training yard of leading racehorse trainer Clive Cox on Friday 14th August, gaining a unique insight into life at one of Britain’s most successful racing stables.
The group spent a fantastic morning at the Lambourn yard and on the gallops, where they had the opportunity to see many of the horses currently in training under Clive Cox’s expert care. The visit provided supporters with a rare chance to experience the day-to-day workings of a top-class racing operation and learn more about the dedication and teamwork involved in preparing horses for the racecourse.
In a remarkable twist, several of the horses seen by supporters during the visit went on to enjoy success the very next day at Newbury Racecourse. Among them was Coppull, who landed the prestigious Hungerford Stakes, giving members the thrill of having seen a future winner at close quarters before his big race.
Adding to the occasion, the group also had the opportunity to meet racing legend John Francome, who was visiting the yard and spent time with those attending the trip. His presence helped make the event even more memorable for supporters.
The visit formed part of the IJF Supporters Club’s ongoing programme of exclusive events, designed to bring members closer to the sport while supporting the vital work of the Injured Jockeys Fund. Experiences such as stable visits provide supporters with unique access to some of racing’s leading personalities and facilities, while helping to raise awareness of the charity’s work across the industry.
